The Odisha government, along with FIH and Hockey India, hosted the FIH Odisha Hockey Men's Junior World Cup Bhubaneswar 2021, which started on November 24th, 2021, and concluded on December 5th, 2021, at the iconic Kalinga Hockey Stadium. This was the first international event in India after the COVID pandemic hit. 16 teams from around the world competed in 48 games over 12 days, where the final was played between 6-time Junior Hockey Worldcup Champion Germany and 2-time champion Argentina. Argentina won the title, defeating Germany by a 2-4 scoreline on December 5th, and the Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik presented the trophy of the tournament to the Argentinians. Team India and Team France competed for the bronze medal, and France defeated the previous champions, India. A total of 357 goals were scored throughout the event, with the Netherlands scoring the most team goals (45 goals) and the Netherlands' Miles Bukkens scoring the highest number of individual goals (18 goals).
